Produce/Director/Writer Jon Lee Brody brings us a retro commercial for the upcoming release of a new ToeJam & Earl title!
If you’re a child of the ’80s and ’90s, you probably have fond memories of Sega and their ToeJam & Earl video game. Ahhh, those were the days. After a full day of learning, there was nothing like breaking out your console system with a set of Lunchables (yeah, remember those? All the cool kids had ’em!).
Nowadays, if you want those memories back, you’ll have to settle for an emulator. It’s a lot more convenient, but there’s still nothing like putting in a cartridge, watching it fail, and then blowing on it until you turned blue. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and what was once a hassle, is now a source of warmth.
Well, Jon Lee Brody is back to give us a ’90s hug of fuzzy goodness with his retro ToeJam & Earl commercial. Sega’s “other” famous characters (the primary one being Sonic the Hedgehog) are making a comeback onto consoles with their newest title—ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!
The commercial also features Rio Magdaleno. If you remember, Magdaleno was also in Brody’s previous promos for The CW’s The Flash and Supergirl. Here’s a refresher if you forgot:
Now, the question is how did Magdaleno end up in the ’90s? We here at Fantinuum have a theory: Magdaleno is actually a Legend, so he time-traveled back to that era because he was drawn to it, much like Rip Hunter being drawn to the Old West. Oh, and since we’re on the topic of the Legends, makes sure to stay tuned because Brody has a soon-to-be-released treat for Legends of Tomorrow fans!
