The 100: The Complete Fifth Season DVD will be released on October 9, 2018, and we have an exclusive review of the most harrowing season yet!
Another season, and another chapter rife with conflict, dire consequences, and edge-of-your-seat action. The 100: The Complete Fifth Season DVD will be released on October 9, 2018 and it will contain all 13 episodes of the continuing adventures of the last bastion of humanity. This time, they’re faced with their greatest challenge yet—a militarist force composed of humanity’s most dangerous criminals. It’s another fight for survival. But before they can face off with this new enemy, our group of heroes must set aside their own differences first. Here’s the official release synopsis:
Last season, our heroes were introduced to the harsh truth that the human race is doomed to face an unbeatable enemy: the remaining nuclear reactors on Earth have melted down and are setting the atmosphere on fire. The group had very little time to prepare for the worst, with every possible solution disappearing almost as quickly as they were able to come up with them. With a literal countdown to the end of the world, our heroes were forced to go to unimaginable lengths to make it out alive – with or without each other. In the aftermath of Praimfaya, they must begin again and with Season Five, our heroes will have to examine their responsibility to the new place they call home and the future generations who will inhabit it. Can they begin again and celebrate what remains or will the frailties of human nature cost them their one chance to rise from the ashes?
Like all DVD collections, this one contains special features that help viewers to understand how the actors got into character—their motivations and inspirations. However, unlike the series itself, the bonus material is not a smorgasbord of grim and dark tension . A gag reel and panel recording from WonderCon 2018 show how the cast and crew also like to have fun—especially when things don’t go as smoothly as they’re supposed to.
The 100: Redemption and Rebirth
This special feature contains various interviews with the cast and crew that illustrate how the characters have changed and grown since Season Four. The six-year separation from each other—with some not knowing if the others have survived—definitely play into their arcs. They also delve into what fans can expect for Season Six. For those who have already seen all of Season Five, you know that the next iteration will have a dramatic change in setting.
Gag Reel
As noted before, even though the material is dark, it doesn’t mean you can’t crack a smile every now and then. The cast and crew’s levity are on full display with a fun assortment of outtakes and gag reels. The funniest moments come from the dichotomy between life-and-death scenes interrupted by bloopers.
The 100: 2018 WonderCon Panel
Some of the main cast and crew gather to talk about working on this hit show and the conflicts their respective characters face in Season Five. Of course, this informative and in-depth panel wouldn’t be complete without some hilarious antics and joking.
