The Flash: The Complete Fourth Season Blu-ray is here and it doesn’t disappoint in the special features department!

The Flash Season 4 has already sped in and out. So, if you missed certain details or just want to catch it again, here’s your chance. The Flash: The Complete Fourth Season Blu-ray has just been released. As always, Warner Bros. provides us with all the awesome goodies that is now customary in home video releases.

The collection of four discs is a plethora of special features and in-depth interviews that explore the characters and the actors portraying them. Between jokes and commentaries, the cast and crew give a rare look at one of the best comic book shows on television today.

Deleted Scenes

The deleted scenes are just that—scenes that were taken out for the purposes of brevity or narrative clarity. From what we saw, there weren’t that many deleted scenes on the Blu-ray which could only mean one of two things: it’s not a comprehensive list; or, luckily, the original episodes had very little deleted from them. The scenes were definitely finished and edited as there were special effects and background music, so they may have been last minute decisions from the showrunners.

Gag Reel

Nothing’s better than seeing your favorite cast members letting a bit loose on set. From bloopers in lines to purposely making each other laugh, the players on The Flash know how to have a good time at work. All of this is made even more humorous by editing in the Thinker and the Machinist into this feature, as if they were also observing and analyzing the antics.

Inside the Crossover: Crisis on Earth-X

The executive producers for Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow, have a literal sit-down and talk about the daunting efforts in bringing a crossover to life. They cover the narrative beats that needed to be hit and the challenges of making everything cohesive across four very tonally different shows.

The Best of DC TV’s Comic-Con Panels San Diego 2017

We get highlights of SDCC 2017’s panels for Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. As the cast and crew of The Flash take the stage, they give their thoughts on Season 3 and give hints on Season 4—which have now been fully revealed.

The Elongated Man

Ralph Dibny has always been an underserved character in the DC universe. The Flash is the first show that has dug deep into this character. This segment delves into what makes the Elongated Man tick. We take a look at his personality and character flaws and how Dibny evolves in Season 4—going from self-centered to someone who thinks about others. It’s the quintessential hero’s journey.

Flash Time on Amunet Black with Katee, Eric and Sterling

Amunet Black is one of the more interesting villains to have appeared on The Flash. Her appeal has everything to do with her wild personality and very humorous reactions to situations. In this segement, actress Katee Sackhoff, executive producer Eric Wallace, and writer Sterling Gates review and analyze Amunet’s most interesting scenes. Among the comments, we find some very interesting tidbits of trivia. For example, did you know that Amunet’s mood is reflected in her make-up?

The Fastest Mind Alive: The Thinker

For Season 4, the Thinker has proven to be one of the Flash’s deadliest foes. And this is due to this villain’s attacking of our hero on another level. If the Flash is the fastest man, then the Thinker is the fastest mind. He’s not just one step ahead of Barry, he’s on a different running track. The segment covers the origins of the Thinker and how the villain’s own genius and egotistical goals become his own downfall. It’s an interesting pscyhoanalysis that shows how this show’s villains are a cut above the rest.

About Steve Lam 105 Articles
The first superhero Steve ever saw was Christopher Reeve's Superman in 1978. Steve was only a year old and couldn't really appreciate history being made. Little did he know at the time, the seed was already planted—which would grow into a lifelong obsession with superheroes and comics. Today, Steve also adds science fiction, horror, and movies to his repertoire of nerdy fanaticism. His dream is to one day sell his novel or screenplay.
