At the recent Ace Comic Con in Seattle, Hayley Atwell revealed how she thought Agent Carter would have beaten Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a monstrous success at the box office, the same can’t be said of the television version. Yes, the various Netflix shows have garnered solid ratings and better than average reviews, but when it comes to network television, the MCU has had its fair share of problems.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been ratings challenged from almost episode one. In addition, it wasn’t until the series was transformed in the wake of events in Captain America: The Winder Soldier that the series became even remotely watchable.

Then there was Agent Carter. The late, lamented series starring Hayley Atwell that spawned a million cosplays and one of the most hardcore fan followings in all of television.

The problem with Agent Carter had nothing to do with the stories, because from the very first episode the series was something special. No, the problem was getting people to actually tune in and watch what was easily one of the best superhero shows in recent memory.

Unfortunately Agent Carter was cancelled after two glorious seasons and despite petitions, social media campaigns and more, Marvel has not seen fit to bring the series back.

Despite the cancellation, the series is still immensely popular, as can be seen by the reception Atwell receives whenever she makes an appearance at a convention.

This past weekend Atwell attended the Ace Comic Con in Seattle, Washington and fans enjoyed an hour long panel where she discussed acting, Agent Carter and the legacy the series left behind.

She also did some fan Q&A and the best question may have been from a young fan who asked how Peggy Carter would have dealt with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The answer is pure Atwell and totally priceless.

(Go to the 30:11 mark to see the response, but the entire video is well worth watching)

“You know how with Thanos you can see this tormented man working through his own kind of moral compass. There’s like this sensitivity about him that’s required when he’s got to kill his own daughter. I think there must be an Achilles’ heel in there somewhere. There must be some sort of way there to disarm him that’s not physical.

“I think she’s maybe just give him a therapy session. I think she would help him celebrate his differences. I think she would give him a little red lipstick and say that it works wonders for me when I’m having a bad day.”

There you go. Leave it to Agent Carter to get the job done where both the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy failed.

Let’s hope that at some point Marvel Studios will realize what they have and get Agent Carter back on the air. Until then, I guess we’ll all just have to wonder what might have been.
