DC Comics writer Tom King appeared as a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers—and it was amazing!
Tom King is arguably one of the best comic book writers today. From his run on Grayson to his present run on Batman and Mister Miracle, he has taken these iconic characters to new depths.
Recently, King appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about his comics career and his past occupation working in counter-terrorism at the CIA. Yes, you read that correctly, he use to work for the famed spy agency fighting really bad people. However, like he states in the interview, his “nerd” status was his best cover. Who would ever assume a regular Joe who’s into comics to be on the level of James Bond?
Well, we can say that it probably wasn’t just King’s self-perceived nerdiness that got him a free pass from targets. His appearance on the show gave us evidence that he probably charmed the pants off the villains he was surveying. As Meyers interviewed King, we couldn’t help but notice King’s great comedic timing. He’s gone from the CIA to comics. Maybe his next move should be to stand-up comedy, or even hosting his own talk show. Check out the hilarious and engaging interview:

Currently, King’s run on Mister Miracle has received both reader and critical acclaim, with some describing the story as both “devastating,” yet “hopeful.” King’s next major project will be Heroes in Crisis—a story that examines the mental health of superheroes.
