Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, the latest game based on the classic Manga and anime, will be getting a U.S. and European release this October.

It’s safe to say that when Fist of the North Star arrived in comic book shops in the late 1980s, it was pretty much unlike anything ever seen before by American audiences.

Unrelentingly gory and gruesome, Fist of the North Star was one of the earliest manga adapted and published in English here in the U.S. It opened the door to worlds of comics that existed outside of Superman and Spider-Man for many an American comic book fan.

Although the an English translation of the manga has never been completed, that hasn’t stopped the comic and the anime that followed from amassing a huge following of hardcore fans. They eagerly snap up anything with the warrior Kenshiro’s face on it and wait for word of new products from the world of Fist of the North Star.

The latest such entry was the video game Hokuto ga Gotoku from the studio that gave us the Yakuza series. The game used many of the same mechanics as that franchise and was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 in March of this year. At that time there was no word if the game would be coming to American shores in the future.

Well, Fist of the North Star fans got the news they were waiting to hear at this week’s E3 video game expo.

SegaAmerica announced that Hokuto ga Gotoku will arrive in the United Sates and Europe in October of this year. The game will be retitled Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise and the fine folks at Sega were nice enough to bring a beautiful announcement trailer with them.

The game looks like it includes all the over the top storytelling and brutal fighting that fans have come to expect from the franchise. And the visuals are simply gorgeous as well.

In addition, the game includes a number of side quests and minigames, including running a nightclub and dune buggy racing. You can even spend time playing the original Fist of the North Star video game from the 1980s.

Currently the Lost Paradise is only coming out for the PlayStation 4. It is unknown right now if an Xbox One or Nintendo Switch version may be released at some future date.

More Gaming: Gears Of War 5 Announced

While Fist of the North Star might not be every gamer’s cup of tea, there can be no argument that the franchise has stood the test of time and continually finds ways to reinvent itself. Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is the latest but almost certainly not the last time we will see Kenshiro in action.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise launches for the PlayStation 4 on October 2, 2018.
