Marvel Studios Celebrates 10 Years With “Gold” Posters

To celebrate 10 amazingly successful years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios has released a slew of character posters with a “gold” theme.

It seems as if 2008 was only yesterday—with Robert Downey, Jr. donning his arc-powered armor and bringing to life one of Marvel Comics’ most famous heroes. Iron Man (2008) was one giant experiment that went very right. At that time, a small “independent” studio called Marvel Studios had this crazy idea of creating a universe of films where characters would cross over.

Like Tony Stark’s armor, the concept of one giant shared universe was revolutionary. Owning this huge undertaking was a little known producer named Kevin Feige. His meticulous planning of solo films and interweaving stories became the master blueprint of what would be one of the biggest and most successful franchises in cinema history—the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Today, the MCU has a tome of 19 films—with more on the way. The franchise is made even more daunting when we take into account the small-screen in-universe properties—Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher. To-date, the films have made a worldwide box office gross approaching $17 billion—that’s almost the GDP of Iceland!

Celebrating this monumental decade of wins, Marvel Studios—on its 10-year celebration site—has released a series of 33 “Gold” posters highlighting some of its most famous characters. The various characters are shown in dramatic poses with their own slogans. Topping it all off, we have a group shot of all the characters together—yeah, we’re guessing they took this photo before the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Fans never dreamed they would see these characters in live-action films, let alone interacting. Now, the only question fans have is “when are we going to see [fill in your favorite character’s name] in a movie?”. With an unstoppable momentum, endless goodwill, and deep pockets, it’s a guarantee this Marvel family will grow!

The next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be Ant-Man and the Wasp which will be released in the United States on July 6, 2018.

The yet-to-be-titled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will be released in the United States on May 3, 2019.
