Check out our unboxing of Funko’s Collector Corps April “Avengers: Infinity War” box which contains exclusive collectible items.

Avengers: Infinity War is on the horizon and Funko brings us the goods to prepare us for this once in a lifetime event. The Collector Corps’ April 2018 box has arrived and it’s dedicated to none other than the Mad Titan himself—Thanos.

Yes, Funko could’ve focused on a number of different characters who have made their mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy—but they brought the notorious supervillain front and center. Hey, in order to have a great hero (or “heroes”) you have to have a great villain—and Thanos certainly fits the bill.

Being Funko’s largest box to-date, you can bet we were excited to see what was in store for us. So let’s get this unboxing underway!

The Unboxing!

Opening the lid to this gargantuan box, we’re immediately presented with a giant Pop! figure and key caps. As we take out these initial items, we see the rest of the goods—a bandana and a mug. Emptying all the contents, we see the interior lining is composed of illustrations inspired by the upcoming film.

The Details!

The key caps are the Pop!-ified heads of Iron Man and Gamora. The details provided by the etching provide a nice bit of texture against the saturated red, gold, and green colors on the heads.

“Avengers: Infinity War” Iron Man Bandana

The bandana is Iron Man-red and shows the Golden Avenger’s latest suit. The illustration also gives away some of the surprises we’ll be seeing from Tony’s endless array of gadgets and weaponry. The bandana, when folded up, is subtle enough for everyday use. However, when you want to make a statement, you can unravel it and show your Marvel loyalty.

“Avengers: Infinity War” Heat Change Mug

The heat change mug sports the Infinity Gauntlet on both sides. In the center, we have the “Avengers: Infinity War” logo. As you pour hot liquids in, the various Infinity Stones will appear on the gauntlet. Aside from this fun, gimmicky feature, the mug is a nice size for your favorite hot beverage.

“Avengers: Infinity War” Pop! 303 Thanos with Sanctuary 2 Figure

Finally, we have a very large Thanos figure—or should I say, Thanos bobblehead figure. The Mad Titan is situated on his Sanctuary 2 warship ready for battle. I have to admit, it’s kind of strange seeing Thanos without his helmet, but it does allow for some pretty interesting detailing for that purple melon of his.

The box is classic Funko—it serves as great protection, but also a nice display piece for inbox collectors. Overall, the sculpt is beautifully rendered on all sides. The clear stand creates the illusion that he’s floating in midair, waiting to attack. And Thanos’s raised Infinity-Gauntlet-adorned fist gives everything a nice dramatic touch.

Final Round-Up

Funko’s Collector Corps gives fans their biggest box to-date with April 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War” offering. Though the number of items was smaller than past boxes, Funko more than made up for it with a very large Thanos Pop! figure. The sculpt itself is extremely detailed and captures the spirit of the movie.

Not convinced yet? Due to the items being exclusive and unique to this offering, we’re going to do a theoretical breakdown in price using comparable items found on Amazon and Ebay:

  • “Avengers: Infinity War” Key Caps: $5.00–$7.00
  • “Avengers: Infinity War” Iron Man Bandana: $10.00–$16.00
  • “Avengers: Infinity War” Heat Change Mug: $10.00–$12.00
  • “Avengers: Infinity War” Pop! 303 Thanos with Sanctuary 2 Figure: $15.00–$50.00

Using the lower-end of the pricing, all items add up to be $40.00. With Thanos being the focus, it was a nice change-up from the more hero-focused boxes in past superhero team-up movies. It makes sense also, since Thanos is truly the thread that ties together the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sadly, this is the final Collector Corps box available as a subscription. The boxes aren’t going away, but they’ll be offered individually through Amazon. It’s definitely been a pleasure reviewing these fun boxes. It was like experiencing Christmas once every two months. As always, The Fanboy Review is excited to see what Funko has in store for its fanbase.

A special thanks to Funko Marketing Manager Yoko McCann for helping us with this review.

Disclosure: The Fanboy Review was provided with a free April 2018 Marvel Collector Corps box for the purposes of this review.

About Steve Lam 105 Articles
The first superhero Steve ever saw was Christopher Reeve's Superman in 1978. Steve was only a year old and couldn't really appreciate history being made. Little did he know at the time, the seed was already planted—which would grow into a lifelong obsession with superheroes and comics. Today, Steve also adds science fiction, horror, and movies to his repertoire of nerdy fanaticism. His dream is to one day sell his novel or screenplay.
