Darryl makes his triumphant return in an all-new Marvel one-shot that will be part of the Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray release.

Whenever you ask a fan to make a list of their favorite Marvel Studios films, the first two Thor movies almost always end up somewhere towards the bottom of the list. While both Thor and Thor: The Dark World are good movies, when put up against the other films in the MCU, they come up lacking in several areas.

One of the biggest, fans will tell you, would be humor.

Thor and its sequel just took themselves a bit too seriously and the result are movies that, while entertaining and not lacking for action, missed the mark on the trademark humor of the MCU.

It was something Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi was determined to change. And he started fixing it even before the third Thor film arrived in theater this past year.

To help Waititi do this, he brought a new character into the MCU that would forever change the way fans saw the heroes of the Marvel Universe and how they interacted with their surroundings. Some would say this character may be the single greatest new addition to any shared universe ever.

Waititi gave us Darryl.

Remember Darryl? One half of Team Thor? The Odinson’s roommate while the Thunder God stayed in Australia during the events of Captain America: Civil War?

Team Thor showed everyone just how funny Chris Hemsworth could be and it was a humor that carried over into Thor: Ragnarok incredibly well. It helped make Ragnarok a huge hit here and overseas where it earned just over $850 million and has Hemsworth talking about returning for more Thor films in the future.

But what ever happened to Darryl?

In March we will all find out when the Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray arrives in stores everywhere.

Details about the disc have been released and while they include the usual featurettes, commentaries and some deleted scenes, the big news is a new Marvel one-shot that will see the return of the one and only Darryl.

It seems that since Thor moved out, Darryl has been having some problems making his rent and he decides to look for a new roommate to help cover the bills. And who should answer but the former leader of Sakaar himself, the Grandmaster.

The synopsis alone is enough to make anyone laugh out loud.

“Fresh off being unseated as the ruler of Sakaar, the Grandmaster makes his way to Earth to start a new life. It’s been over a year since Thor left Australia and Darryl has been struggling to pay his rent. Now Darryl needs a new roommate to help make the monthly payments. Unfortunately for Darryl, the Grandmaster was the only one who answered Darryl’s “Roommate Needed” ad and with no viable options, the Grandmaster moves in.”

Both Jeff Goldblum and Daley Pearson reprise their roles as the Grandmaster and Darryl respectively and of course who else would direct this soon to be masterpiece than Waititi himself.

Thor: Ragnarok arrives for digital download on Feb. 20 while the Blu-ray arrives on store shelves everywhere on March 6.
