The new full-length trailer for Black Panther is here. We analyze the most mysterious scenes.
Just when you thought you’ve seen it all from Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige and friends bring us one of the most exciting trailers yet. Ever since the introduction of T’Challa / Black Panther in the critically acclaimed blockbuster Captain America: Civil War (2016), fans have been hungry for more of the fearless King of Wakanda—well, from the trailers, it might be more like the reluctant King of Wakanda.
The newest full-length trailer has the usual bombastic ambiance and eye-popping visuals, but it also introduces a lot of mysteries. Specific scenes definitely raised an eyebrow or two among Marvel fans. Let’s take a look at the most enigmatic scenes from this latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Two Black Panther Suits?
Black Panther is getting a suit refresh in the film. That’s not to say that the original didn’t kick ass. The new one is much more streamlined, and from the trailer, it seems to morph onto the wearer. Take that, Tony Stark! I’m sure our billionaire Golden Avenger is going to want to know about that tech for his Mark-whatever iteration.
Erik Killmonger Also Gets a Suit?
If this was an Oprah Winfrey show, she’d be announcing, “You get a suit! And you get a suit! And you get a suit!” Yes, Erik Kilmonger gets his own “Black Panther” suit. I put “Black Panther” in quotes because it looks similar to the suit T’Challa has, but it’s not all black. The gold accents make him look more like a cheetah. The suit also morphs into form like T’Challa’s. The big question: How did Erik get this suit?
Will Ulysses Klaue Transform?
We finally see Ulysses with his sonic gun, and it’s hidden within his prosthetic hand. In the comics, Ulysses creates a device allowing him to transform into a being of pure sound. Will we see this transition from physical to sonic in Black Panther?
Are They Falling through Space?
This could be Wakanda at night, but that background looks suspiciously like outer space. Then again, it could be Wakanda’s Vibranium mines. Knowing the metal’s properties, a fight between two Black Panthers could trigger something huge and devastating.
We’re sure these questions will be answered with the release of more footage as we get closer to the film’s debut. However, the only way to truly know is to see the movie when it comes out … and that’s in another four months. Can we seriously wait that long!?
